As an amicable debt recovery company, INTERNATIONAL RECOVER COMPANY® is at the forefront of seeing the economic and social consequences of the crisis we have been experiencing since March 2020. For companies awaiting payment of their invoices as well as for their debtors sometimes having reduced income, finding concrete solutions adapted to their needs and their financial resources is essential.

Faced with unpaid debts, some are postponing deadlines indefinitely. Others turn a deaf ear. These are not real solutions. Unfortunately, financial problems will not disappear by magic. Making debtors aware of their economic situation is an important first step. Regularly confronted with men and women with different incomes for almost 30 years, we can distinguish the different economic and social situations that some of them unfortunately have to face. We can then redirect them to the various competent social services which will help them morally, financially and administratively. Realistic settlement plans can then be put in place, which will allow our clients to be paid in return, preventing them from finding themselves in the spiral of over-indebtedness.

Concretely, are you facing financial difficulties? Here are some useful addresses to contact:

Social assistance services in your municipality

CPAS and non-profit organizations specializing in social welfare can help you if you do not have sufficient resources to survive, to obtain housing or if you are facing difficulties paying your energy bills, for example. Depending on your family situation (single person or head of household, owner or tenant, etc.), you will be granted assistance. If unfortunately you are not entitled to this aid, they will redirect you to another service in order to meet your needs (housing, food assistance, clothing, etc.). So don't hesitate to contact them. They are open to everyone.

Debt mediation services

Often made up of lawyers and people specialized in budget management, debt mediation services will establish a financial assessment with you and propose solutions based on your economic and social situation. Your mediator will advise you to avoid a situation of over-indebtedness.

Collective debt settlement

Depending on your situation, if for example your income does not allow you to put in place realistic settlement plans, CPAS, non-profit organizations or mediators will possibly suggest that you go through a collective debt settlement. The aim of collective debt settlement is to restore your financial situation, in particular by allowing you, as far as possible, to pay your debts while guaranteeing you and your family the ability to lead a life consistent with human dignity.

Please note, however, that this is a complex and lengthy legal procedure and can only be done once.

A debt mediator will be appointed by the judge. He will receive all your income, will take care of the payments of your monthly charges but also the settlement of debts prior to the legal decision. You will be given a sum of money for the rest of your monthly expenses, based on the established budget.

What if you lose your job?

For all procedures concerning an unemployment request or compensation, contact Onem or your union. If you are not unionized, contact CAPAC.

Are you facing a long-term illness?

Your mutual insurance company will be able to help you with any questions regarding your replacement compensation, as well as with the steps to take to obtain it.

What about our elders or people with reduced mobility?

Contact your municipality or the nearest CPAS. There are various types of assistance (urgent or not) for people who are isolated or have reduced mobility.

We talk about it too little. The consequences of a difficult economic and social situation are unfortunately often also psychological. Support services exist. Feel free to contact them :
